According to WHO, 1% of nation’s population need to donate blood annually in order to fulfill its demand. Despite being a country with a population of 1.2 billion, India faces a shortage of 2.1 million blood units on a yearly basis. Delhi-NCR alone faces a shortage of 1,00,000 units per year, despite having a large young and urban population.
